Celts Sweep Crusaders

Dallas, Texas - The Celts traveled North Saturday and took care of business, sweeping the University of Dallas Crusaders with a commanding 3-0 victory. The win improves the Celts' record to 10-12 overall and 5-6 in conference. Set scores were decisive, with UST claiming 25-13, 25-14, and 25-13 wins.

St. Thomas set the tone from the start of the first set, displaying their focus and determination and jumping to an early 11-5 lead. They sustained the energy throughout and never gave the Crusaders a chance, winning 25-13. Set two mirrored the first, as the Celts surged ahead 9-2 before executing the knockout blow with a 7-2 run. They maintained their intensity to win 25-14. In the third set, the Celts again opened a 5-0 run, and even though the Crusaders punched back to make it 6-4, St. Thomas quickly responded with a 14-2 stretch to end any UD hopes, eventually closing the match with a 25-13 win.

The stat sheet was very balanced for St. Thomas. Audrey Cataline led the Celts offensively with 8 kills and a .238 hitting percentage while contributing 7 digs. Laynee Beam, Madison Baker, and Noor Haydari each added 4 kills. Beam recorded 4 kills on 5 attempts, finishing with an impressive .800 hitting percentage. Ally Peters was dominant at the service line, delivering 5 aces and adding 8 digs to fuel the defense.
