Kara Spice Named SCAC Defensive Player of the Week

KARA SPICE OF UNIVERSITY OF ST. THOMAS, a junior defensive specialist from Cypress, Texas, has been named SCAC Volleyball Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, September 25 through Sunday, October 1. SCAC Volleyball Release (Week 5)

Spice averaged an incredible 11.20 digs per set as the Celts posted a 2-1 mark on the week. She had a career high 47 digs on Friday against Southwestern, the third-most in a four-set match in SCAC history. Spice bookended the week with a 37-dig performance in Sunday's loss to Texas Lutheran, which marked the most digs ever by a SCAC student-athlete in a three-set match. The junior also had an offensive showing with five service aces on the week. 

Spice is currently leading the SCAC with 6.74 digs per set and will likely be in the top five in the nation when the national leaders are updated later this week.
