Celts Competitive at Concordia in Opening Match

Women's Tennis opened up their spring season against non-conference opponent Concordia. After a tough day of singles and doubles, the Celts fell to the Tornadoes by a score of 7-2.

In doubles, the top-line duo of Anamaria Gonzalez and Ella Mullins dominated their opponent and notched the first Celt victory 8-2. However, the Tornadoes gave Regina Lopez and Karissa Guzman all they could handle in line two and won 8-3. By the end of doubles, the Celts found themselves in a 2-1 hole.

Singles saw Concordia dominate. In line one, Anamaria Gonzalez was able to secure victory in three sets, 6-4, 1-6, 10-7 to tie the score 2-2. Yet this would end St. Thomas's run as no other player could win their match. At the end of the day, the Celts dropped their opening match to Concordia 7-2.

Up next, the Celts head to Belton, Texas to take on Mary Hardin Baylor. Follow UST athletics for all scores and updates.
