Verret Leads Celts at Austin College Invitational

Celt Swimming created waves of success at the Austin College Invitational this weekend. In a field that included teams from Division I, II, and III, St. Thomas secured an impressive 5th-place finish, marked by outstanding performances.

Ava Verret took the lead in the 100-yard breaststroke, clocking an impressive 1:15:32 at the highly competitive Austin College Invitational. Additionally, she claimed the third spot in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:06.79, making her the top-performing DIII swimmer in the race.

In the 100 backstroke, Kelsy Elgar secured a third-place finish with a time of 1:07.23. She also showcased her skills in the 50 free, finishing fourth at 28.50. In the 100 free, Elgar landed in seventh place, completing the race in 1:02.38.

Emely Lopez demonstrated her prowess by finishing ninth in the 100 backstroke at 1:14.36. Additionally, Lopez competed in the 50 free, earning an eighth-place finish at 29.95, and in the 100 free, securing 10th place with a time of 1:05.70.

Allyson Pantin showcased her competitive spirit in the challenging 1650 freestyle, clocking in at 21:55.68 and earning 16 points. She also participated in the 100 free, finishing 11th with a time of 1:06.33.

Collectively, the quartet of Pantin, Lopez, Elgar, and Varrett impressed in the relay, securing a third-place finish at 4:15.65, surpassing SCAC rivals Austin and Centenary.

After all scores were tallied, Women's Swimming claimed a commendable 5th place with a total of 160 points.
