Women's Swimming finishes 7th at Trinity Invitational

Celt Women's Swimming competed in the Trinity Invitational this weekend against a group of other schools from a wide range of conferences, including three SCAC opponents. After a hard-fought three days, the Celts found themselves in 7th place with a total of 21 points. Here's a quick rundown of the results:

After a morning of preliminary races on Friday, the Celts opened the finals portion of the weekend with a 12th-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Kelsy Elgar, Ava Verret, Allyson Pantin and Emely Lopez worked together to put up a time of 1:49.65, which finished ahead of the team from Austin College among SCAC opponents. Saturday saw Elgar take on the 100-yard backstroke consolation finals, where she recorded a time of 1:04.33 and finished fourth. The Celts continued competition into Sunday when the relay team got back together for the 400-yard freestyle relay, where they placed 14th with a time of 4:02.03, once again knocking off a SCAC opponent in Austin College.

Looking ahead, Women's Swimming gears up for a Conference Dual Meet against Southwestern at the next event. Stay tuned for scores and updates on ustcelts.com.
