St. Thomas Draws With Colorado College in SCAC Opener

Men's Soccer opened conference play against Colorado College on the road in Colorado Springs. The Celts would finish the match

The Celts would waste no time making their presence known with Ian Alvarez scoring in the 11th minute. St. Thomas would hold this lead for only a short while, as Colorado College would respond before the half to tie the score 1-1. In the second half, both offenses would keep quiet as neither team would give up an inch to let one in the back of the net. 

Cristo Gayoso would start in goal for St. Thomas and hold tough against the Tigers. He would record four saves in the 1-1 draw. On the flip side, the Celts would outshoot the Tigers 20-10, but their goalie would have six saves. 

Both teams would play aggressively in the match, notching five yellow cards apiece. Yet, St Thomas would only commit 16 fouls while they drew 22. 

With this match the Celts start conference 0-0-1, they are back in action next Friday against Southwestern in Georgetown!
